Conversations on Quality: A Symposium on K-12 Online Learning is being hosted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on January 24 – 25, 2012 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. At this event, 75 powerful thinkers from K-12 education, academia, and industry will engage in a new kind of conversation on shared issues and solutions related to quality in online learning for grades K-12.

The symposium’s goal is to collectively articulate a vision for high-quality online learning based on an understanding of the current state of the field and identification of key issues. We will focus our work around three themes: evidence of high-quality learning, assessment within and of high-quality learning environments, and scaling high-quality courseware. The symposium will involve active participation in workshops and presentations led by industry professionals and field-builders, and will culminate in sharing the results of those activities.

We will publish the findings from the symposium openly through this website to engage the broader community in a national conversation on the quality of online learning in K-12 education. We invite you to please sign up to Join the Conversation.
